- Very few (if any) low cost hosting providers will allow you have your own domain name. They require that you place yourself on their domain in a sub-folder. This means your web address will read something like "http://www.cheaphostingprovidername/yourbusinessname.com"
- This makes the URL long and difficult for your clients to handle.
- You are in effect advertising for them. Every time your website is viewed there is their web address right in front of yours.
- They provide very limited disk space on their server.
- They may require that you allow them to place ads throughout your website. These ads are for their own services as well as click-through ads from other businesses that pay them to place the ads on your site!
- Why advertise for someone other than yourself on your website?
- When people click on these ads . . . they are leaving your site and will most likely not return!
- They are not local.
- Where are these people located?
- How do you get a hold of them in an emergency?
- How likely is it that the person on the other end of the phone gives a hoot about you or your business?
